Two drug personalities were apprehended in separate drug busts conducted by the Cebu City Police. One suspect was found with 5 grams of shabu while the other was apprehended with a firearm and 30,600 pesos worth of shabu.
Two drug personalities were arrested during a simultaneous anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the Cebu City Police. The first suspect, 32-year-old Ruel Rubi Rodriguez, a resident of Simuon Street, Barangay Parian, Cebu City, was apprehended in Sityo Riverside, Barangay Lorega. Personnel from the Parian Police Station seized from him approximately 5 grams of shabu worth P34,000.
At 12:05 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, another drug personality, 20-year-old Wyleen Pacaña Banono, from Sitio Upper Laguerta, Barangay Apas, was arrested by the Mabolo Police Station in Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay Luz. According to Police Major Romeo Caacoy Jr., chief of the Mabolo Police Station, while his personnel were on patrol in Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay Luz, they encountered the suspect carrying a caliber 45 firearm. During a search, they recovered sachets of shabu worth P30,600 from his pocket. Banono claimed that the firearm was only for self-defense. However, Caacoy stated that it would be submitted to the Cebu City Forensic Unit for ballistic examination and cross-matching to determine if the gun was used in any crimes in Cebu City. Caacoy added that they would continue to monitor and subject the firearm for examination at their crime lab to see if any empty shells match any previous shootings or robberies
