Two separate anti-illegal drug operations in Cebu City resulted in the arrest of two individuals in possession of suspected shabu.
TWO separate anti-illegal drug operations led to the arrest of two drug personalities from Barangays Lorega and Luz in Cebu City.In Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay Luz, a 20-year-old man was arrested at 12:05 a.m. by personnel from the Mabolo Police Station. The suspect was identified as Wyleen Pacaña Banono, a resident of Sitio Upper Laguerta, Barangay Apas.According to Police Major Romeo Caacoy Jr.
, chief of the Mabolo Police Station, his personnel were on patrol when they arrived in Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay Luz, and encountered the suspect carrying a .45 caliber firearm. Upon searching the suspect, they found packets of substance believed to be shabu in his pocket, valued at P30,600.The suspect said the firearm was for his protection against his rivals. However, Caacoy said they would have the firearm examined by the Cebu City Forensic Unit for ballistic testing and cross-matching to determine if it had been used in any crimes, such as shootings or robberies in the city.'Amo pang gisubay kay amo pa ni i-subject for examination sa atoang crime lab kung wala bay nag match nga empty shell didto nga ba involve og mga shooting saona o robbery,' said Caacoy.(We are still investigating it, and we will have it examined at our crime lab to check if there are any matching empty shells from previous shooting incidents or robberies.)Authorities said Banono had been arrested previously for a similar drug case, however, after being released from detention, it was said he returned to his usual illegal activities. Meanwhile, in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Lorega, a 32-year-old man identified as Ruel Rubi Rodriguez was arrested after members of the Parian Police Station seized bundles of what is believed to be shabu, weighing around 5 grams, with a standard drug price of P34,000.
