Brothers Erwin and Ben Tulfo, along with former Senate President Tito Sotto , emerged as frontrunners in the latest senatorial survey conducted by Oculum Research and Analytics in collaboration with RMN Networks. The survey, conducted from December 16th to 22nd, 2024, polled 1,200 adult respondents across the country who declared themselves voters. ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo secured the top spot with a remarkable 70.8 percent voter preference.
Former Senate President Tito Sotto followed closely behind at 52.3 percent, while Ben Tulfo garnered 50.1 percent, placing them in a tie for second and third.Re-electionist Senator Ramon 'Bong' Revilla Jr. secured third to fifth place with 49.2 percent voter preference, closely followed by incumbent Senator Pilar 'Pia' Cayetano at 46.9 percent, placing her in fourth to seventh place. Former Senator Manny Pacquiao trailed with 46.3 percent, placing fourth to eighth, followed by Senator Bong Go at 44.4 percent, also securing fifth to eighth place. Senator Ronald Dela Rosa obtained 43.8 percent, while Makati Mayor Abigail Binay garnered 40.3 percent, and former Senator Panfilo Lacson received 39.2 percent.Rounding out the 'Magic 12,' Representative Camille Villar ranked ninth to twelfth with 37.5 percent voter preference, and TV host Willie Revillame secured tenth to twelfth place with 36.2 percent. Notably, incumbent senators Imee Marcos and Lito Lapid fell outside the 'Magic 12,' along with former Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gringo Honasan and former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos. The survey utilized a face-to-face methodology for fieldwork in key areas across the National Capital Region (NCR), Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It carried a margin of error of +/- 3 percent at a 95 percent confidence level. Dr. Racidon Bernate, Oculum research head and managing director of the Asia-Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators, commented on the survey's findings, stating, 'The survey underscores the complexity of senatorial preferences, highlighting the impact of media exposure, political history, and policy alignment. The study provides valuable insights into the diverse political landscape, shedding light on the dynamic nature of political preferences in the Philippines.
