A milestone model for the Japanese carmaker
A little over a year ago we got our first glimpse at Toyota’s most important new model in decades. At Toyota Motor Philippines’ 35th anniversary celebration the prototype of the all-new Tamaraw was revealed.The Tamaraw model has been an intrinsic part of the Toyota brand in the Philippines. It even preceded TMP, as it was first sold by the previous Toyota distributor during the time of the first President Marcos in the ’70s and ’80s.
And now like a phoenix that reappears every few decades, the Tamaraw returns to help move the Filipino.How did the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N win the 2024 Car of the Year Award?In the months since its 2023 introduction, we learned a few things about the new-generation Tamaraw, learned its full specifications, and even got some insight into its financing. At the recent Philippine International Motor Show it was one of the highlights of TMP’s booth.
Now we finally have some dates and an idea on when TMP’s much-anticipated model will be in the hands of motorists.There will be a ceremonial roll-off on November 28, 2024, at TMP’s Santa Rosa plant. As you might know, the Tamaraw is locally assembled here in the Philippines. On December 6, 2024 there will be a public launch at the Glorietta mall, Trinoma mall, and SM Mall of Asia. The Tamaraw will also be displayed in Laguna, Pampanga, Cebu, Davao and Cagayan de Oro . The public displays will run from Dec. 6 to 8, 2024. At these public introductions people can reserve their units with Toyota sales agents on standby.From what we heard we might start seeing Tamaraws on the road by January next year.
