Senator Francis Tolentino expressed optimism that President Marcos Jr. will sign into law a bill that would extend the services of Davao Light to some
areas in Del Norte, replacing the current provider NORDECO.
Tolentino made the statement during a press conference for the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas campaign in Davao Del Norte on Saturday.Tolentino highlighted Davao Light’s low rates and stable energy, stating that lawmakers supported the bill because they believed it would benefit consumers and resolve the issue of constant power outages in the province.
He believes the President shares this view, recognizing the need to address power supply problems not only in Samal but throughout the Davao Region. He emphasized the significant impact of reduced cost per kilowatt per hour on households and the President’s belief that affordable and stable electricity would greatly ease the burden on families in the Davao Region.
Senators Abby Binay and Manny Pacquiao, along with ACT CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo, agreed on the need for a sustainable power supply in the province to attract more investors, emphasizing that a stable power supply is crucial for economic development.
