MANILA, Philippines — A court in Timor-Leste has once again approved the Philippines' request to extradite former Negros Oriental 3rd District representative Arnolfo Teves Jr., paving the way for him to face murder charges in Manila. This decision reaffirms a ruling made in June, which the camp of Teves had contested on procedural grounds. The Department of Justice welcomed the court's ruling, emphasizing its significance in the quest for justice.
Additionally, Teves and 12 others were designated as terrorists by the Philippine Anti-Terrorism Council due to alleged involvement in killings and harassment in the province.Despite initially participating in the extradition hearings, Teves' legal team raised objections, calling the initial ruling a 'late appeal.' They also questioned the number of judges involved in the decision. These objections led to a second hearing, where evidence was presented again.
