The Department of Energy (DOE) has selected thirteen companies with 21 projects to participate in the third round of the Green Energy Auction Program (GEA-3). The program will offer a total of 4,250 MW for pumped-storage hydropower projects, 300 MW for impounding hydropower, and 100 MW for geothermal technologies.
Thirteen companies with 21 projects have been selected to participate in the third round of the Green Energy Auction Program ( GEA-3 ), according to the Department of Energy (DOE). This round will officially commence bidding on February 11th, 2025, and the DOE will be offering a total of 4,250 megawatts (MW) for pumped-storage hydropower projects, 300 MW for impounding hydropower, and 100 MW for geothermal technologies.
Winning bidders, for whom notices of award will be issued in May, will be granted incentivized power rates. The qualified firms, broken down by technology, are:For geothermal projects, the DOE selected Maibarara Geothermal Inc. with three projects; Energy Development Corp. with two projects; Mindanao 3 Binary Geothermal Power Plant Expansion Project Phase 3-Unit 1 and Bago Binary Geothermal Power Plant-Unit 1; Bac-Man Geothermal Inc. with its Palayan Binary Power Plant-Unit 1; and Tanawon Geothermal Power Plant-Unit 1. Impounding hydropower projects saw the following companies pass: Pan Pacific Renewable Power Phils. Corp. with its Gened 1 and 2 power project; Pulangi Hydro Power Corp. with its South Pulangi project; and United Hydro Power Builders Corp. and the Dakgan power project. Pumped storage projects qualified the following companies: Ahunan Power Inc. and its Pakil project; First Gen Hydro Power Corp. and its Aya project; Olympia Violago Water and Power Inc. and its Wawa Pumped Storage 1 project; Pan Pacific Renewable Power Phils. Corp. and its Maton project; Coheco Badeo Corp. and its Kibungan project; Repower Energy Development Corp. and its Real II Seawater project; and San Roque Hydropower Inc.'s Aklan, San Roque Lower East, San Roque West and San Roque Upper East projects.The DOE has outlined specific requirements for qualified bidders. In accordance with clause 5.1.1 of the GEA-3 terms of reference, all qualified bidders must submit proof of the posting of the bid bond, in PDF file, through email at [email protected] until 12 p.m. of February 5th, 2025.
