SHELBURNE, NS – An estimated crowd of 1,000 or more people filled the Shelburne waterfront on Oct. 8 to watch and cheer on the five competitors in the inaugural Shelburne Pumpkin Regatta.

KATHY JOHNSON Annie King was the lone female competitor in the first annual Shelburne Pumpkin Regatta on Oct. 8. The four pumpkin paddlers all took a dip in Shelburne Harbour once the race was over. KATHY JOHNSONIt was the first time rowing a pumpkin for four of the friends who all live in Shelburne.

KATHY JOHNSON Kean became aware last spring that Windsor was not going to be able to host its annual pumpkin regatta any longer due to the unavailability of the former regatta venue and not having another site to logistically handle the event. She contacted the organizers, the Dill Family Farm, and got their blessing and support to bring the event to Shelburne.
