A man is in critical condition after he was allegedly set upon by a group of youths in the food court of Watergardens Shopping Centre at Taylors Lakes on Wednesday.

An alleged altercation was sparked between two men and a group of youths in the food court of Watergardens Shopping Centre at Taylors Lakes, in the city's north-west, at about 7.05 pm on Wednesday.

A 19-year-old Sunbury man was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remained in a critical condition on Thursday morning. Police arrested five teenage boys outside Watergardens train station shortly after the alleged brawl. Picture: Nine News.Four other teens - including a 17-year-old from Kings Park, a 17-year-old from Deer Park, a 17-year-old from Burnside Heights and a 16-year-old from St Albans – were all charged with affray. Victoria Police has urged any witnesses or anyone with mobile phone footage of the attack to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
