Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor has hit out at the Labor-Greens “coalition” for its “ideological exclusion” of nuclear after NSW Treasurer Matt Kean declared his government would be “open” to the energy alternative.

NSW Treasurer Matt Kean made an unexpected backflip on Thursday when he told 2GB radio his government would be interested in the energy alternative if it became economically feasible.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022 “I don’t know what his influences are but I’m delighted with where he’s heading with that and I hope he keeps going,” Mr Taylor told Sky News Australia on Thursday. “The ideological exclusion of it by the Greens and Labor, working together it seems in a coalition now on energy, will just rule out another possible way of making sure we deliver on what’s such an important outcome for Australia,” he said.

“I’m not ruling anything in or out. When it comes to energy security, you can’t rule anything out, you’ve got to be open-minded right across the board.
