The Taguig City government collected P4.38 billion in business taxes during the renewal of permits in January.

It implemented the Business One Stop Shop for the renewal of business permits, which was extended to Jan. 31. According to the city government, the P4.38 billion business tax collection is an increase of P1.17 billion or 36 percent from an estimated P3.21 billion collected in the same period last year.

This year, the city government implemented a new system that allowed business owners to apply for permits and pay taxes quickly. The Taguig Business Permits and Licensing Office and the City Treasurer’s Office integrated the payment of barangay fees so business owners no longer need to go to barangays for clearances.

The renewal of business permits in Taguig was held at the SM Aura Satellite Office and the Convention Center at the New City Hall Building. “Payment and releasing were fast; taxpayers did not line up until midnight to settle their taxes or wait for their business permits; there was no rush to beat the deadline; and there were no irate customers protesting,” said Taguig City Treasurer Voltaire Enriquez.
