Taguig City joins the growing movement of car-free Sundays with the closure of Cayetano Boulevard and C5 Service Road every Sunday from 5 am to 9 am. The initiative aims to create community spaces for recreation, alternative transportation, and healthy lifestyles.

Taguig City has joined the growing trend of car-free Sundays by designating two major roads as pedestrian-friendly zones every week. Effective March 16, 2025, Cayetano Boulevard and C5 Service Road will be closed to motorized traffic from 5 am to 9 am every Sunday. The initiative aims to encourage residents to embrace active lifestyles, explore alternative transportation options, and enjoy open spaces free from the noise and pollution of vehicles.

The City Government envisions these car-free zones as vibrant community spaces, fostering recreational activities and promoting wellness. Officials have urged residents and motorists to adjust their travel plans accordingly, utilizing alternate routes and allowing for extra travel time during the designated car-free hours. During the soft launch, the Taguig Mobility Office (TMO) hosted a lively celebration featuring outdoor activities like badminton, basketball, futsal, cycling, roller skating, Zumba, and other wellness activities. Free bike lessons and maintenance services were offered to encourage sustainable mobility, while the City Agriculture Office distributed free seedlings and planting guides to promote urban gardening. Residents have already expressed their appreciation for the program, citing its positive impact on air quality and their opportunity to utilize the roads for recreation. This addition to Taguig's landscape aligns with similar car-free initiatives implemented across Metro Manila, including People's Streets in Pasig, Ayala Avenue in Makati, and Roxas Boulevard in Manila. These programs aim to create more livable urban environments by prioritizing pedestrian and cyclist safety, reducing traffic congestion, and promoting healthier lifestyles
