MANILA, Philippines: Letran unleashed Moses Manalili and its shackling defense as it unnerved University of Perpetual Help, 97-80, Saturday and inched closer to a back-to-back title conquest in NCAA Season 99 junior basketball at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.
Manalili delivered a performance to remember by flirting with a triple-double effort before ending up with 35 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in powering the Squires to a 1-0 lead and on the cusp of claiming a back-to-back crown and 14th overall.'Hindi ko po akalain maka 35 points ako,' said a soft-spoken Manalili, a proud product of Cebu City.
'They did held UPHSD's big guns to outputs lower than their averages, especially Acido, who is the leading MVP candidate but managed just 10 points after norming a little less than 20 points entering the duel.And they hope to bring the same intensity and desire when they go for the jugular Wednesday.A decider, if necessary, is Saturday.
