SY family-led SM Supermalls, the mall leasing arm of listed SM Prime Holdings Inc. , is further flexing its presence in China with two new malls set to open in Fujian province in 2025 and 2027.The company announced it had also partially opened the fourth phase of SM City Xiamen in China and is currently in the process of incorporating a hotel brand into the complex.'We're very happy to announce that we have opened Xiamen 4. At first, we opened SM City Xiamen, then we opened SM Lifestyle.
Tan said they were looking at a 'boutique hotel' for SM City Xiamen that would have more than 100 rooms, but he clarified that not all of their future malls in China will feature a hotel.'Only if there's an opportunity. We always come in as a mall first. Then, if there's an opportunity for us to expand to the hotel business, we do ,' he said.
