“Banging” sounds have been heard coming from the area the missing Titan submersible was last seen, according to leaked government documents. 7NEWS

“ 1) We understand that likely signs of life have been detected at the site,” they said in the statement.“3) We believe they are doing everything possible with all resources they have.

The noises were detailed in internal e-mail updates sent to Department of Homeland Security leadership and obtained by“RCC Halifax launched a P8, Poseidon, which has underwater detection capabilities from the air,” the DHS e-mails read.“The P8 heard banging sounds in the area every 30 minutes. Four hours later additional sonar was deployed and banging was still heard.”

The Titanic wreckage is located 4000 metres underwater, while the Navy’s manned rescue craft can only descend about 600m underwater.
