Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Wednesday said they would soon be able to find out whether or not Elvira Sanchez is lying to the Senate as the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) has extended help on extracting information from her cell phone, which she claimed is destroyed.
Sotto admitted they have sought the help of former senator, now DICT chief Gregorio Honasan II, on the matter.
“I was told by our source that we will be receiving a report before the hearing tomorrow, and my source is very reliable. Secretary lang naman ng DICT,” Sotto told reporters in an interview. Elvira said it was an unknown number, but when asked if she can submit her cellphone, she said she threw her cellphone in anger because she was receiving death threats.Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon warned that she could be held criminally liable if she is found to be lying.
“It’s a prepaid number, still we will be able to find out where it emanated from. Did it emanate from the New Bilibid Prison or outside? We will know because they have a cell site there,” said Sotto.
