SEN. Rafael 'Raffy' Tulfo sought a Senate investigation into the reported illegal recruitment of Filipinos who each paid P120,000 (€2,500) up to P347,140 (€5,780) for non-existent jobs in Italy.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said that as of Tuesday the number of Filipinos or complainants who paid about P178,000 or 3,000 euros each to the alleged illegal recruiter rose from 60 to 221.Tulfo said the immigration consultancy firm victimizing aspiring Filipino workers in Italy was identified as Alpha Assistenza SRL headed by a certain Krizelle Respicio and Frederick Dutaro.
He said that AA's scheme allegedly involved the use of bogus work permits which the victims discovered as 'fake' when they presented these to the Italian Embassy in Manila.Tulfo said 68 of the victims have filed complaints with the Department of Justice while the Philippine Embassy in Italy has alerted the Public Prosecutors Office in Rome, the SUI, the Questura, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the alleged large-scale fraud.DFA spokesman Ma.
