Hundreds of thousands of people could have died due to the coronavirus illness if the government had not enforced strict quarantine measures to contain the spread of the disease last March, Malacañang declared Monday.
With the government’s home quarantine rule and other quarantine restrictions to contain the outbreak, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said that the country’s condition is improving amid the lower fatality rate and higher recovery rate.
The country’s testing output has also reached more than 10,000 a day with the positivity rate at 5 percent.
As of June 21, the country has recorded 30,052 cases of coronavirus. The people who recovered from the illness soared to 7,893 while the death toll reached 1,169.
