Multiple private groups in Saudi Arabia make inquiries for Manchester United
After missing out on Chelsea last year, British businessman Martin Broughton knows how potential buyers will be feeling ahead of Friday’s deadline to submit bids for Manchester United.
Qatari Royals are readying an opening bid of roughly £5-billion for the club, according to a report by Bloomberg News on Thursday citing people with knowledge of the matter. A deal for the record 13-times English Premier League winners will likely exceed the biggest sports deal so far, the US$5.2-billion – including debt and investments – paid for Chelsea, the sources added.A small portion of Manchester United shares is listed in the United States with a market capitalization of more than US$4-billion, as of Wednesday’s close.
United is estimated to command as much as double that figure after the American-owning Glazer family announced their willingness to sell last November.
