After arguing with the driver briefly, Kilpatrick said she cancelled the ride and called another cab. When she got to her destination, she called the company to file a complaint and a dispatcher told her she should have requested a “pet-friendly” vehicle. “The issue is a key one that is covered in livery driver training, which the driver involved would have been required to take,” said Cory Porter, the deputy chief of the city’s livery office. “We take these types of complaints very seriously and encourage anyone who has been refused a trip to contact 311.”
Steinberg said the whole situation is unfortunate, especially given the uplifting and validating nature of Raising Stanley/Life with Tulia.
