COTABATO CITY – The remains of two Filipino surfers from this city and Maguindanao, who went missing and were later found in separate coasts in Thailand, have been brought home, with one of them being immediately buried under Islamic tradition.

The remain of Noah Ibay II, 43, a scion of political family in the Iranun district of Maguindanao, was first to arrive here, via Manila from Thailand, on July 23 after Thai rescuers recovered it July 20. The deceased Moro surfer was son of late Noah Ibay, a pioneer member of the defunct legislature of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao , who perished in a highway accident in Kidapawan City in the mid 1990s.
Cortez and Ibay were among 13 Filipino surfing tourists from Central Mindanao who went to Thailand on July 14.
