Quality books under the new DepEd curriculum
BOOKS are like other printed materials. They may not be as popular in this age of social media, but they are the basis for much of the information and knowledge that we have around us. Radio and television still rely on news from newspapers; influencers spin what they read in the online editions of newspapers and post them to suit their ends.The same is true of the textbooks in our public school system. Time and again, the quality, or lack of it, of some of these textbooks has been pointed out.
' What this means is that the choice of textbooks to be used has been delegated down to the level of the school and the district. This does away with the usual practice of having a centralized procurement process, which some quarters said caused delays and a known source of corruption.
