Seven persons were injured in this area of Padada, Davao del Sur, as the total death toll from the quake stood at 5 as of Monday.
Cadoyas and Trajeras, however, said they cannot yet ascertain the exact number of those trapped in the building.The BFP official said there could be more as residents usually do their shopping on Sundays. Aside from the the Southern Trade, the two-storey Canlas Commercial, also collapsed, but there were no reported casualties in this building. The old water reservoir situated at the public cemetery also collapsed, which injured eight residents.National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council spokesperson Mark Timbal said one of the fatalities was a six-year-old girl who died at Barangay Asinan in Matanao town, the epicenter of the quake, when their house collapsed during the quake.
