A LOCAL court stopped the Land Transportation Office (LTO)from receiving the plastic driver's license cards from its supplier after receiving a complaint from a losing bidder.
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 15 issued a temporary restraining order against LTO and Banner Plasticard, which won the government contract.The AllCard Inc. was disqualified despite offering the lowest bid at P176.8 million, which was well below the P240 million approved budget for the licenses.LTO Assistant Secretary Vigor D.
Mendoza 2nd told a media briefing at the LTO central office in Quezon City on Thursday that the TRO was a 'temporary setback' and hopes that the court will rule in its favor at a hearing set on August 22.Mendoza said the LTO has delivered 100,000 plastic license cards since July and is eyeing the completion of the distribution of the 1.7 million backlog by the end of 2023.He said the LTO aimed to deliver all 5.2 million plastic driver's license cards by February 2024.
