THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board sees the distribution of fuel subsidies for public utility vehicles by the end of the month, LTRB technical division chief Joel Bolano said Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

In a Laging Handa public briefing, Bolano said they are just waiting for the downloading of funds from the Department of Budget and Management . The Congress has earlier approved the release of P3 billion under the fuel subsidy program to aid PUV drivers and operators to cushion the effect of the continuous increase in fuel prices.

The price of diesel, which is commonly used by PUV drivers for their vehicles, has increased by P10.55 per liter over the past five weeks.Traditional jeepney drivers will receive approximately P6,500, tricycle and delivery service vehicle drivers will get P1,000, and modern PUV drivers will receive higher amounts through cash cards valid at selected gasoline stations. They also urged the government to give the fuel subsidy directly to drivers instead of the operators.
