PwC will remove eight veteran partners who it said were directly involved in the firm’s tax leaks scandal, or helped to cover up the matter, bringing to 12 the number now forced out of the big four consulting firm over the ongoing crisis.

Former CEO Tom Seymour is among eight veteran PwC partners including the ex-chairman, chief risk officer and head of government who were involved in the firm’s tax leak scandal or helped cover it up, and are being removed from their roles, the partnership said.It takes the number of partners who have been forced out because of the crisis to 12.

The move comes as the firm also prepares to sign over for $1 its once-mighty government consulting arm to private equity investor Allegro Funds, and amid a Federal Police and three inquires triggered by the matter.Partners were informed about the removals in a meeting held on Monday at 10am, while staff also received an email informing them of the developments.

For “similar reasons” Mr van Dongen and Wayne Plummer, a corporate tax partner at the firm “have been given notice of PwC Australia’s findings against them” and will be removed from the partnership.
