Russian President Vladimir Putin’s call for a ceasefire with Ukraine is a “cynical move” that can’t be taken “seriously”, according to ANU Centre for Defence Research Associate Professor Matthew Sussex.
“It’s very difficult to trust Putin or anything that comes out of Moscow because often what it says is completely reversed by what it does,” he told Sky News Australia.
“Moving forward, that’s going to make it difficult to negotiate any kind of lasting peace that would see an end to this conflict.”
