POLICE have debunked claims of an alleged abduction involving a young woman in front of a university in Sitio Nasipit, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, on Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2025.Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, said that based on their investigation, there was no evidence to support the claim.
However, police investigations revealed no commotion or suspicious activity in the area.When asked if the police would take action against the netizen who posted the claim on social media but later deleted it, Macatangay clarified that they would not file charges.While the police do not plan to file charges against the netizen, they urged the public to report suspicious incidents directly to authorities instead of posting on social media to avoid creating unnecessary panic.
