Nine informants of the Philippine National Police (PNP) received nearly P8 million in reward money for the arrest of some of the most wanted persons in the country.
Of the nine apprehended persons, two were involved in the Maguindanao massacre, while the remaining seven were wanted for various crimes, including murder, rape, and acts of lasciviousness.One of the claimants received P5.3 million for the successful arrest of a certain Alfredo Mapano, an alleged communist terrorist group leader.
The PNP official clarified that the informants were civilians who were not connected to the government and had clear criminal records. He thanked them for extending help to the police despite the danger. —
