CEBU City is planning to develop a Northern Growth Center in Barangay Pit-os to alleviate traffic congestion and promote economic growth in the upland areas.During an Executive Session on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, Joseph “Yumi” Espina, chief of the Cebu City Planning and Development Office , presented the proposal to the city council.
However, the City Government must first complete the clearing operations. Espina also pointed out that road widening costs may impact future road right of way acquisitions.One of the key challenges is that many homeowners and establishments along the road only possess tax declarations instead of official land titles, making the RROW process more complex.Espina emphasized that widening Bantal road is crucial for the implementation of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit .
