The Philippines is investing in airport modernization through public-private partnerships, aiming to boost connectivity, tourism, and economic growth.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement to modernize Bohol-Panglao International Airport. This project entails the construction of a new passenger terminal and upgraded facilities, which will significantly increase the airport’s capacity to accommodate 3.9 million passengers annually. Additionally, plans are underway for the development of the New Dumaguete Airport and the New Siargao Airport.
These initiatives build on the momentum from the successful transfer of operations and management of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation and Laguindingan Airport to Aboitiz InfraCapital earlier this year. The modernization of our airports is a cornerstone of our vision for a more connected, competitive, and sustainable Philippines. These projects will not only enhance the travel experience for millions of passengers but also drive economic growth, tourism, and investment opportunities in our country,” said CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo. The World Bank’s International Finance Corporation is providing support to ensure efficient documentation and bidding processes for these upcoming projects
