The Department of National Defense (DND) praised the Senate's approval of Senate Resolution 1248, which concurs with the ratification of the Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) between the Philippines and Japan . The DND believes this agreement will strengthen defense and security cooperation and enhance interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) through more in-depth practical exercises.
The DND expressed gratitude to President Marcos and the senators for their role in realizing the pact. It noted that the RAA is expected to be approved by the Japanese Diet, making it valid and binding for both countries. The DND looks forward to implementing the RAA, allowing both nations' militaries to expand defense cooperation and build trust amidst shared security challenges.
