The agreements encompass a range of sectors, including the Elimination of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance, as well as Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) on Tourism Cooperation and the Prevention of Looting and Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property.In his address after the signing ceremony, President Marcos highlighted the discussions held with Prime Minister Hun Manet on ASEAN matters and other regional issues, emphasizing the importance of upholding ASEAN unity and centrality, particularly in times of conflict and geopolitical shifts. Both leaders underscored their commitment to combating transnational crimes that have affected their citizens, including human trafficking rings that lure individuals with promises of legitimate jobs but force them into cyber scam centers. The Philippine government has repatriated over 20 Filipinos rescued from such illegal sites in 2023. Marcos expressed gratitude to King Norodom Sihamoni for granting royal pardon to 13 Filipinos convicted in Cambodia for acting as surrogates and violating Cambodia's anti-human trafficking law. He also emphasized the growing partnership between the two countries' militaries and uniformed services, anticipating continued knowledge exchange and best practices to support regional peace and security.Prime Minister Hun Manet characterized the newly signed agreements as concrete steps to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries, which are celebrating their 68th anniversary this year.
