The value of agriculture and fisheries production amounted to P1.73 trillion in 2024 at constant 2018 prices. This was lower than the previous year’s P1.76 trillion. PSA data showed that crop production, which amounted to P960 billion, declined annually by 4.2 percent, with the value of palay and corn production posting a 5 percent and 3.2 percent decline, respectively.
Poultry, which amounted to P279 billion, posted a growth of 6.6 percent, with chicken and chicken eggs recording increments in terms of value. “ASF negatively impacted livestock, while the closed fishing season in the fourth quarter contributed to drop in fisheries output. Meanwhile, poultry emerged as the only subsector with growth, driven by strong demand and shorter production cycles,” she added.
