The Board of Investments (BOI) aims to finalize an action plan by the first half of 2025 to make Philippine-designed electronic products available for government procurement and boost the country's exports. The plan was agreed upon during the Electronics Manufacturing Forum, where industry and government representatives identified key products for local manufacturing. This initiative is driven by recent legislation, including the New Government Procurement Act, which increased the local preference margin from 15 percent to 25 percent, and the Tatak Pinoy Act, which prioritizes Philippine products and services for a decade.

The Board of Investments targets the completion of an action plan set to make Philippine-designed electronic products available for government procurement and expand the country’s exports in the first half of 2025.

“We aim to finish the action plan in the first semester of next year. It’s also urgent for us,” BOI Industry Development Services Executive Director Corazon Halili-Dichosa told the BusinessMirror on Tuesday. The BOI conducted the forum to explore opportunities following the passage of several significant laws.

Dichosa stressed the forum’s aim to gather insights from industry leaders to promote local manufacturing expansion of electronics products given the recently enacted legislation providing preference to locally-made goods.
