TRANSPORTATION Secretary Jaime Bautista and United States Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago met on Wednesday to discuss potential areas of collaboration in the transportation sector, with a focus on investment opportunities for American companies in major infrastructure projects.
Bautista said on Thursday that the high-level meeting would strengthen bilateral ties and explore partnerships between the two countries.Bautista said he highlighted several critical transportation initiatives where American firms could play a significant role.Key projects discussed included the modernization of regional airports, as well as ambitious railway developments such as the North-South Commuter Railway System, the Metro Manila Subway, and the Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas Rail Project.
She pointed to Chicago's metro system as a potential model for rail infrastructure in the Philippines, highlighting its efficiency and scalability as a framework that could be applied to future rail lines in the country.Bautista quoted Lago as saying that Chicago's metro system is an example of modern, efficient transportation.
