After the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Türkiye, the Philippine government's 82-person contingent helped over 1,000 people, rescued 10 survivors, and recovered over 100 bodies.
Over a thousand individuals were assisted, 10 survivors were rescued and over a hundred bodies were retrieved by the 82-person contingent sent by the Philippine government to Türkiye to assist in the search, rescue and retrieval operations in the aftermath of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake there.
This mission was concluded when Turkish authorities put them on standby as it saw a decreased “chance of finding signs of life and rescuing survivors,” the Office of Civil Defense recently said. “Although their mission has come to a close, the bonds that tie the Philippines and Türkiye have been forged stronger through united action through this difficult time,” the embassy said in a statement as it commended the PIAHC’s “selfless work.”
The embassy in Ankara said a total of 77 Filipinos already received financial assistance from DFA and the Department of Migrant Workers and a lot more received some relief goods.
