A 10,000 liter water tanker was sent by the Philippine Red Cross to Cabuyao City Jail as aid for over 70 persons deprived of liberty suffering from diarrhea. The organization said that the water tanker was dispatched on Tuesday night, Sept. 20 after PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon received reports about the increasing number of diarrhea-stricken PDLs in the said detention facility.
According to PRC Laguna Administrator Frank Sorromero, the incident was said to be caused by contaminated water brought by recent flooding in the city. The aid was timely sent as per PRC since the city jail management was also planning on disinfecting their main pipeline and water tank and they need an alternative water source.
