Two administration senators want Filipinos to "move on" from the Martial Law issue linked to the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., but two minority senators believe the country should never forget the lessons of the "dark age."

Estrada said it's up to President Marcos to apologize over the human rights violations that took place during his father's reign. He, however, said Martial Law victims should be given a chance to air their grievances. "Kung may kasalanan man ang ating dating Pangulong Marcos Sr., hindi po kasalanan ng anak 'yun," he said.On the other hand, Senate Minority Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III urged the public to look back, learn from the mistakes of the past, guard the country's freedom and democracy, and fight disinformation.

In an interview with reporters, Pimentel said the victims and their families deserve an explanation from the Marcos family. "This year casts a harsh light on our obligations to the past — it is not enough that we remember it. We must also commit to keeping the truth alive," Hontiveros said in a separate statement.
