PHILIPPINE pineapple exports increased by 2.7 percent last year, making the country the second leading exporter of the fruit in 2023, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization said.In its tropical fruits market review for 2023, the FAO said the Philippines delivered a total of 600,000 metric tons of pineapples last year, compared to 2022's 580,000 MT.
Shipments to both destinations expanded by some 6 to 8 percent in 2023, the FAO said.It also noted that the average export unit value of shipments from the Philippines to world markets reached $593 per MT last year, higher by 3.8 percent compared to the previous year.
