PH needs education overhaul
LIKE cold water doused on one's face, the stark results of the Program of International Assessment survey for the Philippines confirmed what we had suspected all along. Filipino students are the least educated, not just in Asia but in the world. The first dismal results came in mathematics and reading.In mathematics, the main topic of PISA 2022, 15-year-old Filipino students scored 355 points compared to the average of 472 in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries.
2, which put us in the bottom 4 of 64 countries, along with such laggards as Albania, Uzbekistan and Morocco.Singapore topped the list with a mean score of 41, scoring even better than Western countries.
