At 117th out of 193 countries, the Philippines' standing improved from 120th in 2022. Its score edged up to 0.72 from 0.714, a new high that placed it in the high human development category and up 21.4 percent from 0.593 in 1990.
Life expectancy in the Philippines, meanwhile, also marginally improved to 69.83 years from 69.47 years in 2022. Measured from 1990, this has improved by 5.45 years. Expected years of schooling and mean years of schooling in the country, on the other hand, were unchanged at 12.82 years and 9.98 years, respectively, from 2022. Between 1990 and 2023, however, these gained by 2.09 years and 2.80 years, respectively.
