THE Philippines has joined 150 other countries that affirmed their commitment to establishing a labor system that ensures fair and safe working conditions for all Filipino workers.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said on Wednesday that the government's Instrument of Ratification for the International Labor Organization Convention 81 was presented during the 352nd Session of the ILO Governing Body held Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Geneva, Switzerland.Undersecretary Benedicto Ernesto Bitonio Jr., on behalf of Laguesma, presented the ratification instrument to ILO Director General Gilbert Houngbo. Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.

In September this year, the Senate concurred with the Philippine ratification, which, Laguesma said, was a crucial step in enhancing the enforcement of labor laws in the country.By ratifying the convention, the Philippines vows to implement a robust labor inspection system to monitor and enforce labor standards across all industries.
