University of Perpetual Help System Dalta aims for a historic third straight men's beach volleyball title in the NCAA, while also looking to regain their dominance in the juniors division.
The University of Perpetual Help System Dalta is setting its sights on a historic third consecutive men's beach volleyball championship in the upcoming Season 100 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ). The tournament kicks off on February 4, 2025, at the sand courts of Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Klint Mateo, who served as a reserve player last season, will be stepping into the shoes of the departed Louie Ramirez, last year's Most Valuable Player, who has concluded his eligibility in the league. Mateo will form a formidable duo with Jefferson Marapoc and Dexter Arrozado, a newcomer to the beach volleyball scene who previously played for the Altas' indoor volleyball team.Perpetual Help is on a mission to claim its fifth overall beach volleyball title, having previously triumphed in Seasons 88 and 92. Adding to their ambitions, the university also aims to reclaim its dominance in the juniors division. The Junior Altas held the title in Season 94 before the event was temporarily suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, they fell short of defending their crown as Emilio Aguinaldo College emerged victorious. Both the men's and juniors' beach volleyball teams from Las Piñas are currently undergoing intensive training at the Villa Buenaflor Beach Resort in Tanza, Cavite, in preparation for the upcoming season.Meanwhile, Colegio de San Juan de Letran is vying for its third consecutive championship in the women's division. The Letran squad boasts a strong lineup of Lara Mae Silva, Jogi Maquilang, and Gia Maquilang, who shone last year with the latter winning both Rookie of the Year and MVP honors
