The Australia Institute’s International and Security Affairs Director Allan Behm says there will likely be some major outcomes from Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s visit to Beijing this week.
“I think that we will see a mutual accommodation – that’s what happens with diplomacy,” he told Sky News Australia.Mr Behm said there will also likely be “some movement on Australians detained in China”.
“That also will be careful and gradual, because it will be part of an overall recalibration of the relationship. “I think this particular visit by the Foreign Minister is just a critical development in bringing us back to normality.”
