The Philippine Coast Guard urged holiday-makers to be careful as several drowning incidents were recorded during this year’s Holy Week.
According to Dano Tingcungco’s “24 Oras Weekend” report on Saturday, seven teenagers were swept away by the strong current while swimming in San Jose, Camarines Sur.In another inicident, a 15-year-old girl drowned in Daet, Camarines Norte.A farmer, who was allegedly intoxicated, tried to cross the Cagayan River and was found dead inin Angadanan, Isabela.A 36-year-old man also drowned after being swept away by a strong current while swimming in Dipaculao, Aurora.
The PCG reminded the public to be vigilant even though Coast Guard personnel were placed in different resorts along with emergency rescue units to prevent drownings.
