MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday that the Angat Dam was above its normal high water level (NHWL) of 212 meters (m).

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Wednesday that the Angat Dam was above its normal high water level of 212 meters .The dam, located within the Angat Watershed Forest Reserve in Barangay San Lorenzo, Norzagaray, Bulacan, is the main source of potable water and irrigation for Metro Manila and adjoining provinces.

But the dam operator, the National Power Corporation , has yet to decide as to when the gates would be opened to gradually release water or to 'wait until it overflows,' said a weather agency official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.Asked if Pagasa could make recommendations since it gave information to concerned agencies, Abelardo said all it could do was provide them with 'day-to-day and regular' updates.
