A recent survey conducted by OCTA Research reveals that a vast majority of Filipinos, 84%, back the Philippine government's stance on asserting its maritime rights in the contested West Philippine Sea. The survey, titled 'Tugon ng Masa,' polled 1,200 adult Filipinos from November 10th to 16th, 2024, and found strong support across all regions of the country.

MANILA, Philippines — Eight out of 10 Filipinos continue to support the national government's efforts to assert and uphold its territorial claims in the West Philippine Sea , according to the fourth quarter survey of pollster OCTA Research. In its 'Tugon ng Masa' poll conducted from Nov.

10-16, 2024, 84 percent of adult Filipinos agree with the government's stand in asserting its maritime rights in the disputed area, while 15 percent say that they cannot say whether they agree or disagree with the government's efforts. National Capital Region respondents were the highest among those who said that they agreed with the government's efforts at 91 percent, followed by Visayas respondents at 87 percent, Mindanao respondents at 83 percent and Balanced Luzon respondents at 81 percent. Broken down by region, respondents in the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) region had 100 percent approval, followed by Bicol, Negros Island, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao, Western Visayas, National Capital Region, Ilocos, and Eastern Visayas regions with more than 90 percent approval. The survey had 1,200 respondents and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent nationwide and plus or minus six percent for Metro Manila, Balanced Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
