MORE than 1,300 tricycle drivers in Mandaue City are set to receive a P1,000 fuel subsidy.However, only authorized tricycle-for-hire drivers or those who have already renewed their franchises will benefit from the cash subsidy, which will be given through GCash or over-the-counter withdrawal at the Land Bank of the Philippines, according to Hyl Retuya, the legal head of Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue , on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
head Edwin Jumao-as said the reason for non-renewal of franchises was that some tricycle operators chose to utilize their vehicles for private use, while others were unable to afford the renewal fees. Because of this, the Mandaue City Council recently amended an ordinance to reduce the franchise renewal fee to P2,000.
