Olympic singles tennis champion Belinda Bencic, ranked 14th in the world, announced on Friday, Nov. 3, she is pregnant with her first child.

PARIS -- "We're expecting our little miracle soon! We can't wait to meet you," the Swiss player wrote in a post on her Instagram account, where she appears with her partner.

Bencic, 26, who rose to fourth place in the WTA rankings at the start of 2020, won WTA 500 tournaments in Adelaide and Abu Dhabi at the start of the year. At the Tokyo Olympics, delayed by Covid-19 to 2021, she gave Switzerland one of its three gold medals, beating Czech Marketa Vondrousova in the singles final.

She also won silver in the doubles alongside Viktoria Golubic, when they were beaten by two other Czechs, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.
